Cooking together 22.03.2023
Today was an extraordinary day, because we organized our tenth cooking together! It has been amazing to watch our group grow over time. A total of 26 people took part in the evening, including refugees as well as residents of Leichlingen.
We all gathered together in the kitchen and prepared Syrian dishes. There was Arabic bread, falafel, cheese baked goods, tabouleh (parsley salad) and hummus. It was a pleasure to learn about the different flavors and spices and to see how everyone cooked together.
During the cooking we had a visit from Jennifer von Massow, a reporter from WDR television. She interviewed us and asked us what it’s like to cook together and what meaning these meetings have for us. It was a great way to share our experiences and thoughts and show other people how valuable it is to cook and spend time together.
At the end of the evening we were all full and happy. It was a wonderful experience to cook and eat together and get to know people from different countries and cultures. We are already looking forward to the next cooking together!
