Free tutoring in Leichlingen: Great popularity since the start in April 2025
Since April 1, 2025, Leichlingen Hilft , in cooperation with the Leichlingen Youth Center, has been offering free tutoring for students in grades 4 to 8 every Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The offer includes the subjects of mathematics, German, English and other subjects as required. It is aimed at all children and young people who want to improve their academic performance.
The demand is high – this is reflected in the constantly growing number of participating children. New students are added every week. A dedicated team of currently six volunteers supports them individually, strengthens their skills and promotes independent learning. The common goal: learning with joy and in a supportive community.
“Education and joint support are important building blocks for us to promote and motivate children and young people in the best possible way,” explains Önder Balkaya, coordinator of Leichlingen Hilft. “We are pleased that our offer is so well received and would like to help even more young people achieve their goals.”
A special concern is to support children who have a grade of 4 or worse in one of the tutoring subjects. “We welcome all children who have difficulties at school – no matter what the reason,” says Balkaya. “Often it is not only financial reasons, but also the lack of suitable tutoring options or time resources in the family. We want to provide targeted support here – without hurdles.”
Who can participate?
The offer is aimed at:
- Pupils in grades 4 to 8 (later also grades 9 and 10)
- Children and adolescents with a grade of 4 or lower in one of the tutoring subjects
- Everyone – regardless of origin, language, religion or life situation
- Also suitable for children with disabilities – the rooms are barrier-free
Tutoring takes place in the youth center Leichlingen, Oskar-Erbslöh-Str. 24c instead of. To support learning success, the children are asked to bring their textbooks and learning materials.
