In a Foreign Land: Film & Discussion – Refugees on an Integration Journey.
Immerse yourself in the captivating world of refugees who fled to Germany from Syria and Iraq. “Angekommen!?” is a moving documentary that captures six individual lives six to seven years after their flight. Learn about their initial difficulties, the challenges of language, the dreams that led them to foreign lands, and how their hopes and aspirations became reality.
In cooperation with the Diakonisches Werk Leverkusen Servicetelle Antidiskriminierungsarbeit, the Kommunales Integrationszentrum Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and KOMM-AN NRW, we welcome you to this special event.
After the film screening, you will have the opportunity to participate in an in-depth discussion. We look forward to welcoming the director of the film, Ulrich Leinweber, as well as Björn Hesse, head of the Municipal Integration Center, and Önder Balkaya from Leichlingen Hilft. who will share their experiences and insights. Delve into topics such as integration, cultural change, career and family, and explore the different meanings of religion in the lives of the six protagonists.
