Cooking together on 14.06.2023: A culinary journey to Morocco

On June 14, 2023, the “Cooking Together” event took place and this time Morocco was the destination of the culinary journey. Participants gathered in Leichlingen to discover the diverse flavors and aromas of Moroccan cuisine.

A traditional Moroccan Harira soup was served as an appetizer. This hearty and spicy soup is a real treat for the senses. It consists of a delicious mixture of lentils, tomatoes, chickpeas, spices and fresh herbs. The participants were delighted with the rich texture and harmonious taste of this soup.

The main course was a tagine dish with chicken and vegetables. Tagine is a traditional Moroccan stew prepared in a special clay pot. The tender chicken was braised together with a variety of aromatic spices and fresh vegetables to provide a wonderful taste experience.

Rice was served as a side dish, which perfectly matched the intense flavors of the main dishes. The fragrant rice rounded out the meal and provided a balanced flavor composition.

M’hanncha, also known as snake cake, was served as dessert. This traditional Moroccan pastry is made of thin filo dough filled with a delicious mixture of almonds, cinnamon and sugar. The dough is formed into a spiral roll and baked until crisp and golden. Participants were delighted by the sweet and crunchy texture of the m’hanncha and enjoyed the unique taste of this traditional treat.

Due to the beautiful weather and the cheerful mood, it was decided to round off the evening with a refreshing surprise: Ice cream for dessert. Participants could choose from different varieties and indulge in the sweet delicacies.

The “Cooking Together” event on June 14, 2023 was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the flavors and diversity of Moroccan cuisine. Participants enjoyed not only cooking and eating together, but also the opportunity to discover new taste sensations and exchange cultural experiences.

The Cooking Together project creates a welcoming and open atmosphere where people of different backgrounds can come together to explore the diversity of cuisine and make new friends.
